The breeders don't like the camera, I'll try when they come in for winter. Lola looks just like her parents, but the wine color on her belly doesn't extend as far yet

So, i'm not looking to start an argument here from anyone, so no one need comment on beliefs, i'm just personally curious.  do you breed them for sale or for a species program or not at all just rescued or what?  do they actualliy produce offspring?  or are they harder to keep and therefore stress easily and that's why they need a breeding program?  just curious how you ended up with them i guess.  you can PM me if that's more comfortable.

No discomfort, the exchange of ideas and information should never cause discomfort as long as both sides are open to exchange while setting aside biases and pre-conceived notions.  Both the Vins and the Cubans are in their respective species studbooks. They do breed, I only allow 1 clutch (or as is the case this year 1 attempt) per year. The offspring are handed over to their respective CBP coordinator who matches them up to maintain the greatest genetic diversity in the captive gene pool. They have produced offspring which are now spread across the country. In our CBP, you are trading bloodlines, no sales. If I wanted to, I could receive one bird for each that I have surrendered, but I don't have that kind of space and my neighbors are only so tolerant. Lola is the one bird that I have held back, and she may yet join the program. There is a CBP because both are listed as Near Threatened to Endangered depending on the listing agency. Cuban Amazons have been breeding frequently in Florida for around 40 years, the Endangered Species Act of 1972 makes it extremely difficult to move them across state lines which is why they are not commonly seen outside of Florida. The Vinaceous Amazons were imported in extremely small numbers until the Wild Bird Conservation Act of 1992. Reproduction has been less regular than Cubans because the sex ratio offspring is around 3:1 males to females. I wound up with them due to the fact that there is a limited market for them since they are so difficult to move across state lines. That's where the CBP comes in, as it operates under the auspices of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the Taxon Advisor is usually an employee of a zoological facility
