as disturbing as that is... i'm more intrigued by the comments at the bottom.  i had no idea taz devils were nearly extinct due to a facial tumor!!! that's just weird... and sad.

yes Lorek, the Tasmanian devil is being attacked by a virus that is spread when the animals bite each other (part of their aggressive nature when fighting over a kill). The virus causes tumors that prevent the animal from feeding and they starve to death. Research is being done to find a cure or treatment, but according to several studies, the infection rate is, thankfully, starting to level off

I honestly dont get the point... If Im going to risk a jail sentence by breaking into a zoo why kill the animals?  Wouldnt it make more sense to sell them on the black market?  Just saying..

It is extremely sad though due to the fact that so many animals are going extinct in the wild.  Zoos sadly are their last chance for some, and they arent even safe their.

That article was sad and somewhat disturbing, but the worst thing was the first comment "fix it with some duct-tape??" Dude seriously? Shut up you aren't making anything better. That comment and the article are perfect examples of why I dislike most people.  slaph
