Someone found her on the ground, no parents around.
When a little one finds there way to me (usually every spring), I hand raise them and post pictures on a forum, and most of the time, someone on the forum stands up and says, "I want that bird", so when weaned, I ship the bird out....

BrokenWing Chronicles
Another little one grows
2 Weeks old

My wife bought me new syringes with removable tips, I didn't read the box and ended up shooting the tip down into the birds crop, I had to do minor surgery to remove the tip or my little friend would have died..

The bandage, this little one wasn't very happy this day, a very small incision was made, all went fine.

I waited a week before removing the bandage.

Off comes the Bandage

All grown up and re-homed in South St Paul.

Sadly, Oliver was returned, seemed he didn't meet the requirements or needs of his adopter.
Oliver was re-homed again.

I do hope his new family is keeping him.  Is he/she a pigeon?  I feel kind of stupid asking....I won't tell you what I thought it was first or second....but then he started to look like a pigeon, at least to me.  :D
What requirements did he not live up to with his first family?
P.S. you did a wonderful job doctoring him and giving him love to be able to be alive and well!  AddEmoticons04239

Oliver is a Pigeon.
Some that adopt from me do there best to keep the bird within there home, its one thing to keep them in a fairly large loft and allow them to free fly, its another to keep them within the home as one would a parrot.
I guess the adopter wished for a bird that would be similar to a parrot and the bird would wish to be with her often, I guess Oliver didn't meet the expectations and showed signs of independence.
This person watched Oliver grow as I posted each day new pictures...
The very same person found a pigeon that had been clipped along the road side, this bird was used to train dogs, starving and she didn't know what to do, so he was brought to me...
After she brought Oliver back...she asked if she could take her rescue back, so far, they are still together..
I guess....somethings just weren't meant to be...
But we try...we try...

Thank you all for your kind replies, these birds are my passion, the more man abuses them, the more special they become to me....

They both are so beautiful! You do such great work in rasing them and then making sure they get a home. I bet you're a very proud papa!
