If you get a dremel  it is really easy to do their beaks AddEmoticons04239

We use dremels at the raptor center to cope (which means to trim or file down) the beaks of the birds of prey.  I've never done it myself, though.  As of yet, I've never had to trim anyone's beak (including my fids).  But I wouldn't mind learning.

A healthy Parrot should not need a beak trimming if provided with enough chew toys and crunchy edibles.  Parrots will spend much time taking care of their beaks if given the proper materials to do so.  Some Parrots will have a condition called "Scissors Beak" that is usually caused by inproper hand feeding.  Trimming a beak should really be done by a professional or one that can teach you!  We are going to take Chico in for another beak trim and this time I am insisting I watch, learn and be taught!  I need to know how much, and what tools to use etc..  When this is accomplished I will gladly share my experiences AddEmoticons04239
