Does anyone have any flat perches they use for their fids? Mrs. Buddy is 15 and her feet are really bothering her some days. She is super careful where she puts her feet and has a hard time stepping up sometimes. Its the being on one foot thing to step up. I usually scoop her up. She does better as the day wears on. I hate to see her sleeping on a perch and she buzz saws her way through the sleepy huts. Hubby is making some. I just wonder how hard it will be to get her to accept it. She spends all day sitting on a dish towel on the finches cage looking out the window. She may be a lot older. When I adopted her, Barb said lots of times people sugar coat the age or length of time they have had a bird. She will even sit on the breakfast dish after eating. She likes flat stuff.....

i got something called a Sundeck, also I have seen them for corners.  julian loves it.  flat peices of wood are a good idea too, no bars to perch on.

We are doing flat triangle pieces in the corners with a soft covering. I hope she likes it.

thinkin3 Wonder if a pool noodle would work.  You could always cut the top of it to make it flat and put a perch inside of it ? dknow  Would be cushy.

If she has arthritis, a heated perch might also help to alleviate the stiffness

how about a 2x4? skittle's fav place to hang out is on his 2x4 and he has YOUNG feet.  dmblaf  dr foster sells the brackets to hook a 2x4 to a cage but they are rediculously priced. i'd just buy about 4 hangerbolts, some wingnuts and about 4 big washers. pre-drill the holes in your 2x4 and voila! nice flat perch that the chewing-est quaker would be challenged to chew thru.  smile3

I also was thinking of the sundeck, you could put plexiglass on it to make it truely flat.  They also sell a calcium clamshell looking thing that she could perch on.  If not Fosters it may be Great Companions.  And as tozie said the 2x4 brackets, you maybe can find em at home depot cheaper.  Like the sundeck I have seen corner decks as well but can't remember where, sorry.

Delta -- I used to wrap flannel around flat perches for my handicapped budgies I had at the time. How do you keep them clean? I was forever having to change the flannel.
