The US Fish and Wildlife Service has published a notice of action to list 4 species of Macaw on the US Endangered Species list under the authority of the Endangered Species Act. The Great Green Macaw (Buffons), Hyacinth Macaw, Military Macaw, and Scarlet Macaw (both subspecies). This will mean that owners of these species will face the same constraints on interstate travel or moving that I am currently facing with my 'zons.

Also in consideration for listing to the Endangered Species List is the Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo as endangered and the Umbrella Cockatoo as threatened

Hey Mar

We will definitely be moving up there in hte next couple of years. Doug wants to live in Buffalo, I would rather be further out. Not the sticks, but not downtown either. I loved East Aurora when we were up there a couple of years ago, but I think we'll be taking several scouting trips before the move to start the compromises

Good info  wink1  Don't move into the city, really.  Try for where we live (Orchard Park), or East Aurora, Hamburg, West Seneca, maybe Amherst and Williamsville.  :oldg:

The U2 as an endangered species, sigh, yet in Australia they are considered as pests and farmers shoot them, poison them, etc., they are treated the same as pigeons here in the US.

handshappy E.A. is nice!....very nice quaint village, lots of shops and countryesque.  Where we live is similar and only about 15-20 min away.  How much room are you all gonna need?  You may like the Elmwood area in Buffalo...lots of artsy and funky stuff there with some older large homes....but I say the burbs near us!

after following your link to get more info... i guess other than taking him across state lines it really doesnt change anything for me?
btw, i did a search and caleb's species is on the threatened listing so i couldnt take him across state lines either.

i guess as a parrot owner its my responsibility to be aware of the laws and regulations of the species in my flock, but it just never occured to me since they were all (but ollie) hatched in captivity.  confused  and Ollie's been in captivity for 30 years.

no, it doesn't change anything unless you cross state lines with them
