i went to my sister's wedding yesterday, so i left quite early yesterday and didnt get home til round 10pm. i was TIRED to say the least. All i wanted to do is put the fids to bed and go to bed myself. I look over and see Furball in the corner by Marley's cage and he's got that 'curious cat' posture. Suddenly it dawns on me, i have an extra bird in the house.  oh A chimney sweep had gotten in the house. The poor little guy was huddled on the floor near marley's cage in pure terror.  sad8  So out the door went furball (without dinner..uh..the uh, i mean his kibble not the bird) Armed with a hand towel, drew and i chase the little guy round the livingroom, he does a couple loop de loops near skittles...who just looks at the bird like 'hmmm wonder if i could do that'  slaph  When twiggy does that skittles freaks out.  dknow  anyway, we finally corral him under ollie's cage and drew carries the little guy out the door. and we release him near the chimney so he can reunite with his family. i guess i'm gonna hafta put a net or something in there to keep 'em outta the fireplace. this little guy had been trapped there for a day or more and couldnt find his way out. i think he was disoriented by the light in the livingroom.

awwww poor guy.  Glad you got him out safe.

We put some wire mesh there, it is like 1/4 inch squares and easily snipped with tin snips, we just cut in each corner and then bent it over the sides of the chimney.

Thats always fun having a wild bird in the house.  Their was one in the garage and I closed the garage door and then my mom said is that bird gone i said I think so went to go look and it flew in the house. Thankfully the little bugger knew where the front door was and was easy to let it go.  Poor little fella probably  was terrified hey at least they learn to not do that again...
