So my mom said she wants to rescue another animal. She was thinking a dog, but I told her that there are sooooo many parrots that are in rescue organizations and need a home. She said she is thinking about it. I would be the one taking care of it. If she decides that we are gonna resue one, I told her I would buy everything it needs, including the cage and stuff. I mean yeah its expensive, but maybe I can find a useed cage or something? Idk, but it wouldn't be until a while. She said after my stepdad leaves and we are on our feet so I am guessing that'll be a few months, and I would have more money at the time and still have a steady income. The situation isn't set in stone. Like I said she is thinking about it but I hope she decides yes.

I thought you were moving soon, no?  If so you should wait till after the move, stressing him out letting him settle then moving again will not be good.

Also I thought you were planning to go away to college, your mom is ok and knows how to handle the bird?  Ok with screaming etc??  Not everyone can handle that.

Craigslist is great for cages.
When and if you go to a rescue be sure you kind of separate yourself a little from the situation.  Like for instance there was a sweetie named Ace that I would have snatched up in a heartbeat, ohhh he loved to play with us and he was just the sweetest thing ever.  BUT I also knew he was  a sunnie and they are notorious for their screaching.  No way my hubs would ever handle that so I did not take him.  HE may not have, ya never know but I did not want it not to work out when he got here.

you read my mind.   just be careful about used cages, knock-offs are notorious for toxic metals. asnd do NOT bring it into the house UNTIL it has been NUKED clean.

Lmfao, yes we are waiting till after we move. This house has too much mold in it and isn't really all that safe. And I honestly didn't think you guys would like the idea of searching craigslist for cages, and I was gonna look there anyways xD. And yes, I know to clean the cage and house and throw out the teflon pans and not use air fresheners before getting the bird. I have been doing my studying ya know guys xD

I've gotten 2 awesome cages from people on craigslist, and one at a yard sale. If you're smart about it and have done research, you can find some great deals. :)

er...nope! you have not completely finished answering Ditty's question. This is the part you left out.

"Also I thought you were planning to go away to college, your mom is ok and knows how to handle the bird?  Ok with screaming etc??  Not everyone can handle that." Not to mention, I remember you mentioning that she thought birds carried diseases...she basically thought they where disgusting.  sad8  Maybe you should let your mom get her dog.

Yeah, with these guys you gotta really plan ahead to make sure all is good for all that is going to be affected.  Better to iron all out now than to try to during a potential bad situation.  Make sure the present and future is planned out and well thought out and you need to think of the "what ifs" etc.  We are not trying to be mean but we just want the best start for you and your bird.
