we all know that as prey animals, parrots will often post 'lookouts' during mealtimes. if the lookout sees something fishy, they alarm and everyone hauls tailfeathers.
so tonite, we were all eating dinner. Twiggy was in her cage eating. Caleb was on top of his cage eating. Skittles was on his dinner perch by his bowl, its attached to the side of the cage about 3 1/2 feet from the floor. Ollie was on top of his cage eating. Marley was on my shoulder trying to coax some of my burrito outta me. Suddenly Twiggy alarmed. I saw nature in action. Marley leaped/flew to to top of his cage and turned to see out the window. Skittles ran up the side of his cage to the top of his totem pole and was stretching his neck to see out the window. ollie and caleb were already at the highest points but stopped eating and looked out the windows. Everyone stopped eating to look around, then when they all decided it was a false alarm, they went back to eating.
I just found it kinda neat. Its not the first time someone's alarmed and everyone responded. but it just kinda impresses me how they are truly a flock, and they each look out for the well-being of the flock. We never did figure out what Twiggy was alerting us to.  dknow

Max does that too! He will alarm call when anyone comes onto the porch. Powder sits in front of the window and doesn't do anything but look, go figure.

Our lookout is named SQUIGGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and his call is the one thing that Zeus can hear for sure!!!!!  It's mainly if he hears us, not even at the driveway but the corner and if D passes the windows!  slaph...Julio does alert..."feces" when D enters...and "baby" when I enter the room! laffhrd
That is a cool sight to seem them all interact as one flock..."we are family"....jiggers!  Drop your food it's the coppers!!!  :cop5:  ooops, false alarm, continue eating!  laugh

laffhrd  D and Mar got me dying too

Ya know I have never really watched them if someone alarms, next time I will have to pay attention.  That is really cool how yours act like a true flock.   thumb
