Hello, I am from Taiwan. I saw a report from Animal Planet lately.
It said that some gases come from saucepan while cooking, and the gases poison parrots to death. I wonder what the gases are. If anyone knows, please kindly tell me, I will appreciate the great help..

the gas is from teflon, PTfoe, or 'nonstick' coated pans. It is odorless, colorless, and quite deadly to parrots. It causes bleeding in their air sacs and is quite a painful death. It also is bad for humans and causes flu-like symptoms. The coating can also be found on many household appliances such as toasters, waffle irons, hair dryers, space heaters, even ovens,  etc. My coffee maker's hot plate even has the 'nonstick' coating on it, something i've just noticed in the last month. There are new pots and pans on the market that are ceramic coated to give that non-stick surface people seem to love without the danger of poison gasses. The EPA, here in the U.S., is calling for all teflon production to stop by the year 2015 (if i remember correctly), but not sure how your country is handling the danger so you should beware any product that claims to be 'non-stick'.
