its been a loooong few weeks. i had vacation but worked on the floor for most of it. then when i went back to work it was 8 days in a row with some tough shifts in there. So i was very much looking forward to 4:00 today. I'm off for the next two days. I come in to frantic pups that hafta go out and potty. put them in the yard. as i'm bringing in the couple bags of groceries i picked up i can hear the fids: mooooommmmaaaa!! whaaaaatttt!!!reeeeeeek reeeeek!!screeeeeeee screeeeee!!!! and that gutteral cockatoo  noise that defies description. so i begin letting birds outta cages, ollie immediately gets on the floor and starts chasing the cat, who snuck in as i was bringing the groceries in. marley runs to the top of his cage and starts slinging toys. as i open the door of caleb's cage he grabs my arm in his hand and is suddenly velcro bird. i go to sit with velcro too on my arm. as soon as i plant my hiney i hear the noise of parrot toes on metal  hmm  cat's in the window sill and ollie is climbing a cage grate that's leaned against the wall to get to the cat. so i put caleb on the livingroom play area... he wont step down. i promise him i'll be right back. grab the hand perch, ollie steps up but lunges toward the cat to make him jump and then laughs.  slaph so i put ollie in the floor of his cage, door still open. go to get a drink before i pick up the 'too. suddenly remember i forgot to let the dogs back in, its raining. let the dogs in. come back start to sit, forgot my 'too. go get the 'too. by now ollie is coming back outta his cage to the floor. so i get marley to step up and put him in the kitchen window. (with caleb still on my other arm) go to sit, where's ollie?  hmm   he's on the cross bars under my tv table. i just let him be. scritch the 'too. ollie is wandering round the room looking for... something.  dknow  not a clue what. suddenly i hear marley screech and fly to the other window. so i scoop up caleb on one arm and run to get marley. as i run i dodge: ollie, the cat, both dogs, and the gate that is up keeping the dogs outta the living room. i scoop up marley, put him on top of his cage. close the gate, keeping an eye on ollie who's still wandering round the room i sit...again. before i'm sat down good, marley is scaling the cage toward me. "no marley, i have caleb right now. you'll have to wait your turn." put marley back on his cage. look at the tv, hear caleb hiss, look up: marley coming toward me again. tell him no again. put him back. after the fourth time, i tell him "marley NO! if you come over here i'm gonna lock you in your room" so what doe he do? he QUICKLY runs to me <stop typing because there's an amazon under my table trying to grab my keyboard from the underside with his beak!>

anyway...then, marley quickly runs down the side of the cage and starts going after ollie, who's on the floor.  bugeye i scoop up marley, put him in jail. and then there were three....  slaph

i still have caleb on my knee. ollie is still wandering round, but at least he's off my table and not trying to grab the keyboard from underneath! skittles is being my 'good kid' and playing happily and waiting his turn.

as i proof read, ollie grabs a bit of granola bar off the floor and climbs to the top of his open door to eat his snack.

and there's peace in the valley once again.... til i let marley out.  dmblaf

a nice steady rain. not really hard, but not misty either. a bit of wind, but not tropical storm strength winds. just your average, windy rainy day.   dknow

It's 90 here and getting dark. The sky is changing from blue to pink, orange and green, hopefully it blows by us.

Didn't get it as bad as some areas, but the temp has dropped 20+ degrees, winds whipped at 40mph, torrential down pour, and lots of lightening and thunder. Now it's distant rumbles and gentle rain. Birds are feeding from the feeders, ducks are swimming in the puddles and feeding from their feeder, birds bathing in puddles both big and small..... life's good. clap

yesterday is like yesterday: hot as blazes (96) and w/ humidity (heat index) it is 99.  bugeye  we all have sunbunrs to show for it even though we stayed in the shade mostly and wore a lot of sunscreen.

they saaaaaaaaaaaaaaay we may get a storm, but that was 3 hours ago and we have a lot of (nice) wind..but no storm.  if it breaks the back of this heat I am all for it!  thumb

p.s. parrot claws hurt on a sunburn.  :deer:
