okay... now i KNOW that sometimes the simplest thing makes a big difference to a parrot. I've hung toys all over ollie's cage. i've changed them out. i've moved them to different places. Today as i was sitting on the sofa creating new toys i look up to see ollie playing on top of his cage, he's hanging from the empty food dish ring that attatches to the playtop and is about to try to climb up it, its smaller than his body.
now i KNOW the rule, if its big enough for them to put their heads in, it should be big enough for their whole body to go thru. But since its on TOP of the cage, i never worried bout it. he's never alone with it. so i freaked and yelled "NO OLLIE!!" he stops and looks at me like "but you always WANT me to play"
so he goes back to climb...i yell again. he stops and goes to sit on his door like
'mom's lost her freaking mind' so i stop building and take that part of the playtop off and just leave the perch up there, he doesnt use those food dishes anyway. Then i string up a new creation and try to get him to play with it. nothing. So i go back to creating. I look up about 30 mins later and he's hanging, swinging, chewing, and playing like a typical Amazon.
i'm going "yaya!!!!! ollie!!! goooood boooy!!!!" So apparently he didnt care much for that part of the playtop? or is it co-incidence? anyway, he is happy as can be, playing and having a grand time with his toy, he got two new ones today. Everyone else got at least two new toys, caleb got three. I cleaned up a couple palm branches from the yard and cut 'em up, caleb loves to chew 'em. go figure.
