I had MEANT to be more productive, but then I remembered a 1/4 of a loaf of bread that had gone a little past and I wanted to share it with the boidies..

I spent all morning watching the comings and goings of sparrows, crows, a few seagulls, and squirrels.  smile3  oh well, the mess in the basement will be there tomorrah right?
 goober

I put out this bread, and the crows kept coming, sitting on the overhead lines, and not taking it.  my neighbor does this frequently, but no one would come to my party.  think
after a while on did swoop down and take WHOLE piece and went away.. more came to check it out, but no takers; they talked about it, but then left.

after a while a squirrel noticed the treasures, scootd down the lines for a closer look, and ultimately took a slice.  it was SO cute.. he ran off with it, bigger than him!! and I could see him off in the covereing of the ornamental gresses enjoying himself thoroughly.  he came back, took a bit and buried it, then took another whole slice after first sitting on the birdbath.  the crows SAT AND WATCHED him take the second piece so i figured they would take the opportunity to get the other 2.. but no!! I dunno why..  dknow

I took pics and I wanted to share them with you.

taste test

mine!

he came back and looked at the rest of the bread, and ended up taking another piece. Hey, it's every squirrel for themselves; this is winter!

the crows sat and WATCHED the squirrel take all the bread!

it was so fun to watch!! I broke some up and left some whole, I wanted to see who would do what with which pieces.. (an experiment!  smile3 ) he took that whole piece in his mouth, and if flopped and flapped in front of him as he ran off with it.  it was funny as anything! it was marble rye/wheat, dang it!! really good bread too, it was left open by accident and it went stiff, so I figured I would share it since good food is hard to find right now. (isn't that squirrel supposed to be in bed??  think)
i could not believe the birds left it, the one took a whole piece so they obviously could carry it, it was neat to see what would happen; and it did not play out like I thought it would!!

That's fun!  I can see he's thinking, "Oooooo!  Swirly bread!"   dmblaf

One of my friends has a feeder and one day she watched squirrels taking peanuts and burying them and a crow was watching from up in a tree and each time the squirrel would finish burying a peanut, the crow would hop down and steal it.
