i thought i had decided on caleb's cage but the last few days have had me wondering if i made the right choice. i had planned on a cage that is the same as ollie's... dimension-wise.

40 x30x 75

http://birdcages4less.com/page/B/PROD/Large_Bird_Cages/PA5736

But then i got to thinking... caleb is a bit bigger than ollie. as far as body size he's almost the same size as skittles. caleb is 785g and skittles is roughly 1000g. but as far as toe to head, they are quite close in size. of course caleb has the blunter tail than skittles. but anyway... i started wondering if this was a better choice:

48x36x76 -- playtop, not dometop.

http://birdcages4less.com/page/B/PROD/Large_Bird_Cages/PA5658

i just dont think that it would be good to put a twin to skittles' cage in the spare room even tho its nearly the same price as the 48x36x76, it would FILL that room.

64x 32x70

i KNOW bigger is better. BUT i'm wondering if the extra square footage is worth the $170.  thinkin3

i'm sure that ollie's cage is the perfect size for him. he has plenty of room. same with skittles. his cage is good. and i want to be sure that i get a cage that will give caleb lots of room for toys and such so he doesnt get bored when i'm at work.    thinkin3

i'm sure that ollie's cage is the perfect size for him. he has plenty of room.

him who? ollie? or caleb?  he will need more to keep him occupied, so the extra space may be needed.. can you fit it in the living room? can ou move the dresser from the bedroom to the living room so you can put a bigger cage in there?

I think the second cage is a better choice, the twin to skittles, I dunno, since he gets so much out of cage time, he will be ok with the other one, it is HUGE in its own right.

i think this is a good choice for Caleb, not HUGE like skittles (who does need more room for his tail/wings) but still plenty of room for a coat tree  smile3

sorry, too many pronouns.  smile3   i mean that ollie's cage is appropriate for ollie. but i think i'm leaning toward the mid sized cage for caleb. the twin to skittles' cage would take up more than half the floorspace in the spare room.

ok well I think the twin to skittles is a bit much, I mean not really needed due to the long tail of skittles and blunt one of Caleb.

I like both cages but he may like the playtop to eat on the veranda and play.  It would also give him a place to play other than the floor.  And since he is out much of the time the smaller space would still be ok as long as he has plenty to do while he is in there.

Just my opinion.

The first cage is the same size I have for Powder - it's a sleep cage, there isn't any room in it once you get a wood and rope toy up against one wall, a rope perch, a cement perch on the door, and a swing. There isn't enough room for him to stretch, much less than open his wings. Go with the larger cage.

The larger the better if you can afford it.

But for a U2 it's still not big enough to use as a daytime cage. If a bitd can't flap their wings in it with toys it ain't big enough.
