Cool!
The birds stopped comming to our feeder because of the hawks hanging around. Every now and again we see a squirrel out there eating from the feeder. We'll keep it full and maybe, eventually, they'll come back. I miss them!

Wish I could get a pic of them "digging" in the snow! They are so funny to watch. We have had a lot of squirrels this year, they had never come to the feeder to really feed before. One good thing is the little guys are a more protected with all the trees from the hawkies...but you can occasionally see them hover over the clearing.

Yeah, there is tree cover over the feeding area. Thats why every critter in the woods bangs on our door for scraps Birds do fine in the winter. Feathers are one of the best insulators. It's when food gets scarce that they may run into trouble during the winter.

That's the reason we keep the feeder full year round.Once a week I put warm water out in a styrofoam cooler for the birds.
