confused hmm, lets see.... well, i close tonite... does that count as 'going out'?  dmblaf  and i'm still sick.... does doing nyquil shots count as drinking?  dmblaf  But unless i'm coughing my hiney off, i plan to be asleep at midnite.

as a kid we used to follow a tradition, you put a silver dollar outside on new years eve, then after midnite, you carry it in (it must be in your hand, not your pocket) and this means you will be bringing money into the house all year.... well, once i grew up and got married, i kinda forgot about the tradition. so then in 96, i suggested to my hubby, ' hey! let's do this..." and sure enough, on 12-31-96, we put out our coins. then after midnight we carryed them in. Then in May, my dad died and left me some insurance money. that was NOT what i meant. so we didnt do it for years. then in 2002, the kids remembered the tradition, so we did it that new year's eve. In 2003 we lost my FIL, my mom, and my step dad. But they had all been sick for quite a long time, we could hardly blame a silly superstition. So after a few years of forgetting it, we'd think about it round christmas and then forget about it til round mid jan. So the year i left Lee, 2007, i had the kids on new year's eve (he was partying) so the kids and i put our coins out in my new yard. After all, i had lost almost everyone anyway. So then in March of 2008, Lee died. i dont put coins out anymore. it is waaaaay, too 'monkey's paw' kinda thing.  :deer:  every now and again, the kids will joke about putting a coin out and i respond with "hey! are you trying to knock me off??? no coins!"  dmblaf

but the other superstitions my mom taught me, on new year's eve: you must have cash money in your wallet and money in your bank account, you must have a clean house, if you are sick on new year's eve, you will be sick all year. And dont do laundry on New Year's day, you'll wash away your good luck.  Well, i do my best to follow them. kinda sucks me being sick, but whatcha gonna do? unfortunately my house will NOT be spotless tonight, but it'll be straightened a bit. i have a bit of money in my wallet, tho i usually dont carry cash.

so i'm doing the boring old crazy bird lady new years.  smile3

once we had kids, we decided that staying up for new years was insanity!! sleep was/is too precious!!! soooooo we always have nummy snackies and watch a movie.
it will either be : columbiana, Book of Eli, or indiana jones and the crystal skull... snackies tonights are: cheeze dip (jalapeno and pepper jack, montery jack and cheddar for him, cheddar, asiago, montery jack, and a lil bit of cheez whiz ( i know I know ) for me, with Tostitos for dippin, and strawberry cheesecake ice cream for him (or apple pie, he can't decide lol) and cookie dough ice cream for yours truly. I got sparkling cider too  handshappy.. it is the best way to spend new years IMHO, at midnight they fire CANNONS   :deer: as well as fireworks in the city and it wakes us (and the residents of the graveyards down the road!  dmblaf ) up at midnight, so technically I never miss it. LOL!!

I hope to God this year is better, we had some awesomeness this year, but the bad stuff was pretty bad.. so here is looking to this year and the silver linings!!!  towel towel

Omg so good.

1pound of Jalepenos cut in half and seeds removed

1 block of cream cheese

1 cup (or more) of either parmesan or mozerella

1 pound of sausage (I used pork sausage rather than Italian)

Brown sausage
Mix together the cheeses, add the sausage to the cheeses once its cookes

Preheat oven to 425

Fill peppers with the sausage/cheese mix

Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned and bubbly

These are not very spicy, though you do get a kick here and there.

i worked last nite til 1030. got home and Darla had been sick, so i got to mop my kitchen floor at 11 last nite.  slaph  then the pepto and the pedialyte for the little girl. i couldnt find my big syringe so i had to use a tiny 10mm syringe to give her the pepto.  headhammer finally gave up and just poured the cup in her mouth. then i wiped up the floor again.  dmblaf  then finally to bed about 1130 or so. i REALLY didnt want to see midnite, i was tired and feeling icky. BUT my lovely neighbors were VERY excited about the new year and set off fireworks.  slaph so i didnt miss it either, wishy. Finally bout 12 20, they went back to their party and i went back to sleep.

My oh my! Those jalepenos look soooooooooo good! I'm gonna try those when I get some extra cash!

Tonite for our first meal of the New Year we're gonna have T-Bone steaks, salad, baked potateos and shrimp cocktail. The steaks were marked down to $7.51 for both and they weigh 1 & 3/4 pounds. I had the shrimps and taters, so why not go all out!  dinner
