Cook your turkey upside down for a much more tender breast meat thumb  A good baste I use is a mixture of Italian dressing/melted butter with poultry seasonings.

True Debz.  Also, baste frequently and leave covered.  If cooked right it will brown covered with the baste and juices.

mmm, i do love fried turkey.

but i'm a bit of a freak, i LIKE dry turkey. dont want no gooey turkey.  smile3

I cook mine in a reynold's roaster bag. great, doesnt overflow into the bottom of the oven, easy clean-up.  just wonderful!

i also am a bit of a garlic freak. I get the minced garlic in the jar from the produce dept, take a steak knife, and poke deep holes into the meat, stuff about a 1/4 tsp of garlic deep into the meat, do this in about 12 or 15 places in the bird, then take about 1/4 cup of minced garlic and toss it into the bird, some vegetable oil on the skin to make it nice and crispy, salt, pepper, garlic powder and cook that bird for about 4 hours.  droolon2  oh wow, excuse me, i gotta go wipe my face.  smile3
