Well, We were outside across the street, trying to save a parakeet that a kid let out and she flew into a tree.

Im helping P at the grill, see this family in the yard across the street throwing footballs into the tree bugeye

I knew**..and ran over and sure enough...so I grab the boy child and he tries to climb the tree to get the poor thing...no luck

Then the DAD tried it....no luck

So in this time, a Neighbor had told me that someone was looking for me, waiting to give me her bird, saying something about the internet and she just knew that Id take it.
I thought he was NUTS :cstars:...and I look up and sure enough!!!

Here she comes, walking down the street with her Beautiful Sun conure in a travel cage.
Her son is with her and they proceed to tell me that he Husband had given her an ultamative that its either him or the bird.
So Im thinking ( duche bag) and what am I going to say?....no?...NOT

So I take her, she offers her 3 cages & a huge bag o food and toys....
I take her to my office, and then notice that the cage is AWFUL!!! not only not so clean, beat up and in terrible condition, the water dish is all bent up...its just a mess..
The perches were all in terrible spots.

I go to move em and she comes and kisses me, not puffed up & Lets me pet her.
She tried to get out, was fluttering her wings for me to come and get her.

I changed her food right off, it was walmart "Parrot Food"- full of sunflower seeds.

She immediately went for the safflower seeds.
I gave her fresh water....talked to her a bit...it was bed times, I surrender yet another loved blanket. covered her and she went straight to sleep.

So, This morning, I went to add paper to her cage and she tried to get out to me......She didnt puff up to bad and didnt act traumatized at all.

so our Hearts are full of wonder dreams of life with this Beautiful Puff Ball.

Oh, also...no clue to her age or sex. But she does have a leg band.

so...without further ado.........

handshappy  i second that debzy!  i've often considered trading my children in on a few more feathered companions.  confused  at least when they're obnoxious i can lock 'em in their room and dept of children and families dont come-a-knockin.

I third that. I would pick my fids over ANY man, ANY day! And if a man gives me the ultimatum, I'd be like "Ok then! Birds it is! BYE!" And then i would beat their sorry hiney  :pit:

Well,
Last night while cleaning her cage, the poor thing....I noticed that someone had tried to spray paint the bottom tray. That was hidden originally by placing a trash bag over the tray itself for clean up- Have any of Y'all ever heard of such a thing?...I think my SD does it.

While cleaning, I talked to her and she did alot of head bobbing and puffing up and striking toward me every once in a while, but once I was dont, I took her out to give her some loins and she was sweet as Pie...Then I took her to the garage to she P and she took off and flew only for a moment- just above my head in the garage and quickly landed.
Well once she did, I had her turned over and noticed that it'd looked like she has never been clipped.
I think she is on her 2nd molt...she had pinn feathers all over....Poor thing, she did let me preen some.

So I took her back to her cage and offered her a bite of roll...she took it but then did something Id never seen before.
She took the roll and used the bars for leverage while eating bugeye---She DIDNT hold her food...something tell me that she is a caged FID that hasnt been out much/ not played with.
Ive never seen that in a fid!

Now, Im not trying to bolster up myself or anything, but I really think she has not had much outside time and Im really looking forward to at least trying to show her a better life before I toss the idea of keeping her out.

What do Y'all think? What do my experienced friends think it sounds like to Ya'll?

Sorry I didnt get more pictures....was feeling vewy vewy tired...

HEY!! it ate my flipping post from yesterday!  :somad:

wow, an unplanned eggnancy!! you did good mama!! I hope you didn't find bugs in the cage!  :deer: I hear that happens with 2nd hand parrots, and if she was not properly cared for I would be afriad to see what else was in there!  bugeye

I would have her clipped ASAP, even if someone holds her for you! since she seems unaccustomed to being handled, she may startle and fly off and that would be so very sad :(  did she have any toys in the cage? unusual she didn't hold her food! I have never seen that!

she has found the right home for sure!! she will get the loving attention she needs there!!

as for the previous owners......what a jerk, he needs one of those Debzy pies! UNREAL!! I bet if he was "vocal" it was because he was lonely or scared or whatever.. tehy probably didn't know what they weregetting into..andyone who is worth their library card will tell you that Jendays are "loud".. and louder if they are scared or bored or hungry or lonely.  it was the best thing that could have happened for the bird to tell you the truth, it was not in a good home.

can't wait to see mnore pics!  hugu
