Yesterday I was trying to take a nap because I had a really nasty headache. But no matter what I could not fall asleep so I just laid there and listened to the fids in the next room. All of a sudden I heard Aries making his warning/mad noise. I laid there and listened for a minute, I figured it was Fawkes on his cage. If it had been she would of just climbed up to his play top and that would of been the end of it. But it continued for another minute so I jumped up and opened the door. Aries was hanging upside down from his swing, I think he was playing but I still really am not sure. But when I opened the door I must of spooked him. He let go of his swing and feel to the floor of the cage, head first. I ran to his cage and sat down next to it, asked him if he was ok. His eyes looked funny, and you could see he was off balance. So I sat and watched him for a minute while trying to decide what to do. He sat there with his beak on a bar and his eyes closed, standing on one foot with the other foot limp. So I thought well Maybe he was stuck on the swing and hurt his foot, I toweled him and checked his feet. They looked fine, he did not act like they hurt when I touched them. So I held him and rubbed his head for a bit. Then I set him on the blanket back in his cage. He sat there for a few minutes, so I decided to mix up some formula and hand feed him just to be safe. He ate a ton. Five minutes later he seemed to regain some strength, I don't know if it was the formula or if he had hit his head and was just feeling better. He got up to his perch and seemed better but still woobly on his feet. I offered him more formula and he took it. Then I left the room for a while to let him rest and I made dinner. I would go check on him every 20 minutes or so. He got stronger and stronger until finally he chortled at me. That made me melt. I made dinner and then took some chicken back to the fids and he seemed back to normal when I got back there. He happily ate his chicken while he chortled at me and made kiss noises loveuk So, I think he must of knocked himself for a loop when he fell. I was sure he was dying for a little bit there though and I could not stop sobbing. There is just something so special about him. I adore that bird so much. He is kind of a stinker and when hormones hit you can forget touching him. But we have this connection that I can't explain. He just has the sweetest eyes and voice. I love my amazon monster and as scary as last night was it brought us even closer. He knew I was trying to help him, I am sure of it because not once did he try to bite me while I toweled him.
