Anybody who has been on BP for a while knows how much I adore the sparrows.  At work there are always a bunch of them hanging around the outside smoking area, people feed them and they're almost tame, but not tame enough to let you get close to them.

Well, today I went out there and as I was just about to sit down, I felt something under my foot.  I quickly moved my foot, but I had stepped on one of them. And apparently I killed it.  I think actually that somebody did something to it, or it had been hit by a car or poisoned, otherwise it wouldn't have been there.  I felt terrible, as it was dying, I picked it up in my hands and kept saying, "I'm so sorry baby."  See I call them babies or kids. I felt like a big galumphing clod. 2sadk

I feel ur pain. I ran over a sparrow with my car even when i TRIED to dodge it. I bawled my eyes out.

I always say, "I may hunt big and small game, but i will NEVER shoot a bird." They are too close to my heart.

oh i'm so sorry. try not to feel bad, like you said, he had to be sick or dying already or he wouldnt have been there for it to happen. we all have accidents. i remember hitting a bird with my car and had to pull over i was crying so hard. and then not too long ago i went outside after a very hard rain and found a baby bird that had obviously been washed outta his nest and drowned in a deep puddle. i kept thinking if i'd only went out sooner. if i'd only seen, maybe i could've saved him. really, i know exactly what you're feeling.  sadboy3   grouphug  it'll be okay. you hang in there.

Accidents happen. We all know you would never harm anything intentionally. I feel just awful when I run little frogs home after a rain on the way home from work. Things just happen sometimes.  hugu

“My brother and sister birds, you should praise your Creator and always love him: He gave you feathers for clothes, wings to fly and all other things that you need. It is God who made you noble among all creatures, making your home in thin, pure air. Without sowing or reaping, you receive God’s guidance and protection.”
