my dear little marley has grown in all but one flight feather.  he has been flying to unapproved birdie areas. like ollie's cage. twiggy's cage. and a few unapproved windows. so i asked drew to help me trim marley's wings. now, i know that the fids hate wing and nail trims. skittles and ollie and marley will attack us to defend whoever is being restrained. so we locked ollie up. i put the first aid box in the kitchen 20 mins before drew even got home. thinking skittles wouldnt realize what's going on. so when drew gets home i go in the kitchen, where marley is, to do a quick trim. we had to suspend operations cause skittles  came running in the kitchen, wings out and beak open... ready to kill.  he managed to land a bite on the back of drew's ankle, we didnt expect him to know what we were doing. so i get him in his cage. we do the quick trim, it only took about 2 mins and that was with marley escaping when we switched wings. so after its over, i let skittles out. me, drew and his friend matt were in the kitchen just chatting about marley and look over and here comes killer macaw. wings up and completely out, feathers round his neck all fluffed out, beak open, and RUNNING  at high speed across the floor. both boys scream and leap outta reach of the deadly 3 inch beak. of course, i'm laughing my butt off,  laugh  yeah probably the wrong reaction but i couldnt help it. apparently skittles was expecting his turn. something that we didnt plan to do. i'm leaving him flighted.  so i just let him stay in the kitchen floor and we continue chatting about our day, plans for the evening and tomorrow, etc basically ignoring the large deadly macaw on the floor. well, skittles apparently felt he or marley were still in danger of being 'attacked' so he began chasing feet around the room. i just looked at him, but matt was wearing flip flops so he leaped on the kitchen counter. drew just looked at skittles until skittles got a particularly hard bite that penetrated his shoe. i squat down to try to talk to skittles, he took a swipe at my finger and yelled 'OUCH!'  cause he knew it would've hurt if i'd let him land that bite. i called him a ... well, it wasnt a nice word. drew tried to make friends by giving him a treat but instead he tried to bite drew. so i took the treat and told him until he could be nice he was not allowed any treats. i turned to go in the livngroom to get a drink... now remember skittles is still walking around the kitchen floor like a large red chicken. apparently he didnt want to be without me, tho he wouldnt let me pick him up, so trailing behind me as i walk to the livingroom he begins running and flapping his wings with every step.   laugh   i lost it again, laughing so hard i could barely breathe. i get my drink, skittles still refuses to step up, wont let me scoop him up without biting, and he refuses to go back to his cage on his own. so i just ignore him and go back to the kitchen. again in my wake, big red chicken, running and flapping behind me. now i'm really amused, so i walk around the kitchen with skittles following behind, he's still pissed off squawking and flapping, as fluffy as if he'd stuck his beak in a light socket. i finally convince him that we have no intention of restraining him so he lets me pick him up. still quite fluffy, he sits on my arm and begins a long rant of macaw mumble.  dmblaf  now i read long ago that most parrots consider wing and nail trims akin to a terrorist attack, and my  guys have a history of defending each other, but skittles has taken it to a whole new level.   slaph
