today ollie is out of his cage. he's such a happy guy today.   loveuk   his cage door is open. he let me pet his head, back and even his wings today. a heck of a milestone. he was watching me as he sat on top of his door, so i get on the stool. he bows his head and fluffs his neck feathers. i begin stroking his little neck. he actually has the feathers so fluffed i can reach all the way to his actual neck. so i spend a good 15 mins giving him a neck massage. i can feel his skinny little neck, the soft skin, the neck bones. it was actually pretty neat. and he just adored it. his eyes were closed and you could see all the tension go out of his body.  he's been quite trusting with me lately. letting me touch his tongue without trying to  rip my digits off. letting me stroke his beak and the soft skin around it. he loves to have his nares rubbed, i think his widdle nose itches. i still have to watch his eyes, when they go 'flat' i watch out! but you can sooo see when he's receptive to my touch. his eyes are bright and.... well, happy? idk. but there is definitely a difference in his eyes, his posture. i'm really kinda excited that i'm learning to see more... or maybe its more mental? maybe i can feel his emotions like they seem to feel mine? (i've noticed that when i'm irritable, they are too. like pms, <snicker>  )

bugeye bugeye bugeye  okay, as i typed, ollie got on the floor. i let him wander, the dogs are asleep in the bedroom... i thought. so i glance over and see... bugeye darla licking ollie's beak like she does with skittles! omg! heart in mouth! i jumped up, shoo'e darla away, and got ollie back to his cage.

as if that's not enough. as i typed the second part, darla and rocky decided it was wrestling time... in the livingroom... and darla's butt hit my keyboard and minimized all my open windows!  slaph as i tried to yell at them i went through every name in the house before i got to the right ones!  slaph ...... AND I HAVE A CAIQUE ON MY HEAD.

anyway, my original purpose was to ask: have ya'll ever given your fids a neck massage? i mean really, rubbing the little neck all the way down.

He's finely opening his baggage and putting things away! When a bird lets you rub or touch in any way the area around his beak and eyes it's HUGE!! IT'S PURE TRUST!! WAY TO GO!!  bananarama bananarama bananarama bananarama bananarama

A word of warning, fall mating season starts in September and ends around Dec/Jan. Watch petting/touching the back, it's an erogenous zone.

I have given neck massages and they all close their eyes and enjoy.  You can almost hear them say OMG that feels sooooo good.
